Position Purpose/Summary:
Thomsen Homes is one of the largest single-family home builders in the state, locally owned and operating in the Fargo and Grand Forks areas. We are currently seeking a Design Specialist to join our team in Fargo, ND. As a Design Specialist, you will work with the Client and internal teams to drive the Design process. You will work directly with Clients throughout their building process, and you will be responsible for providing excellent Client service while driving the sale of upgrades. The ideal candidate for this position is very personable, driven, and creative.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee Design Meetings and the Client experience
- Deliver excellent Client service and make their New Home Experience fantastic
- Be an expert on Thomsen Homes floor plans and upgrade options, and drive sales of upgrades
- Maintain knowledge of Thomsen Homes policies, processes, and procedures
- Work closely with Clients to design and rework floor plans to meet their needs
- Coordinate with other internal teams throughout the build process
- Ensure any design or construction issues are resolved promptly and to the Clients’ satisfaction
- Showcase the Design Studio and display samples for Clients
- Coordinate and execute Electrical Walkthroughs
- Respond to Client, Subcontractor, and Vendor inquiries in a courteous and timely fashion
- Work proactively to ensure all needed information is in place prior to the start of construction activities
- Design Spec and Model homes
- Assist in designing new plans
- Participate in defining standard options and upgrade offerings
Qualifications and Skills:
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong knowledge of residential home design and construction
- Ability to handle a demanding, fast-paced work environment – capable of changing focus quickly as priorities change
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Capable of managing multiple projects and timelines
- 3-5 years of Design experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Design or related field
- Desire to work with a growing company
Full-Time Position - Hours:
- 8:00am – 5:00pm
- Monday – Friday
- 40-50 hours weekly (+/- depending on season)
